Eyes of the Heart

In this new year 2013 I want the eyes of my heart to be opened to see God and to experience Him to the fullest. In Psalm 51 verse 10 (Amplified), the writer says “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me.”

When our hearts are clean the Spirit of the Living God can abide within then we will be able to see with the spiritual eyes of our heart and not the fleshly eyes.

I want to inspire and encourage everyone to allow the spiritual eyes of your heart to see what God has planned for you this year. Michael W. Smith says it so beautifully in this song “Open the Eyes of My Heart”.

30 Days Of…Day 26 – “Seeking”

“But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.” Matthew 6:33 (Amplified)

What are you seeking? Are you seeking fame and fortune, success, someone to love you, or self-worth? There is nothing wrong with any of these things in and of themselves. But my belief is that we should be seeking the face of God. Many people may not agree with me because God is not the true focus of their lives.

What stops us from seeking God. One reason that we can not see God is because in our society we are self-oriented. We are to busy focusing on acquiring material possessions and personal fulfillment for self. God does not fit in that scenario. When are focused on self, our eyes are clouded and it is more difficult for us to see Him.

The eyes of the Lord are toward the [uncompromisingly] righteous and His ears are open to their cry. Psalm 34:15 (Amplified)

“Seek, inquire for, and require the Lord while He may be found [claiming Him by necessity and by right]; call upon Him while He is near.” Isaiah 55:6

How do you seek God? He will show himself to us through His word, the Bible. He will show Himself to us through prayer and He will show Himself to us through fellowship with Him in songs, hymns, and praise. He also reveals Himself to us through fellowship with other believers.

I can honestly say, I am not always seeking the Lord as I should. I sometimes get caught up in the things that I’m want. I may get fixated on my own little program or on the latest thing I think I want to do. When I am fixated on other things my focus is no longer on God. When I go back to prayer and bible study, I realize God is there and He never left me, it was I who turned and went down the wrong street for a little while.

Don’t give up seeking. He’s waiting for us all to turn around and see that He is still there. When our eyes are on God, His eyes are also on us.
