What is Good About Sadness

Sadness is an emotion that we all experience at one time or another in our lives. It could be the result of the loss of a loved one, the loss of a job, the break-up of a relationship or just depression resulting from stressful circumstances happening in our life.

Did you know that sadness is a normal occurrence in life and some even say that it is a gift from God. You’re probably wondering how could sadness be a gift from God. There are certain by-products related to the emotion of sadness. These by-products become the positive lessons that we learn during our times of sadness and the lessons are the gifts from God.

What can we learn from sadness?

  • It urges us to read the word of God.
  • It urges us to pray.
  • It helps us learn to be more compassionate to others in their times of sadness and sorrow.
  • It reminds us that we need others and they need us.
  • It helps us learn to be a comfort and a support to others.

Galatians 6:2 (NKJV) says, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NKJV) says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

Are You Thirsty?

“As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God.” (Psalm 42:1 NKJV)

Sometimes we can become so dry and parched in our lives because we are so busy doing life. God had not left us but we just kind of let Him slip into the background. It is at those time we need to go to the garden alone and let the Lord know how thirsty we are and how much we need Him. Like the father in the parable about the prodigal son opened wide his arms to receive his son back home, so to will the Lord Jesus open His arms for us His children, to return to the well to quench our thirsty souls. Marvin Sapp’s “Thirsty” is so beautifully sung and places you right where you will want to be, at the feet of Jesus.
