I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” ~ Nelson Mandela

“Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]” John 14:27 (Amplified)

Fear can be overcome through the Holy Spirit of God. 2 Timothy 1:7 (Amplified) says, “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.”

30 Days Of…Day 21 – “Overcomer”

I can hardly believe that I’m already 21 days into my 30-day challenge in the blogging arena. I am actually liking this writing thing. So anyway, today my topic came from me doing what I do everyday on my drive home from work. If I am not listening to a bible study lesson on the radio, then I’m listening to one of my gospel music CD’s. In one of the songs I heard the word overcomer and immediately I had my post for today.

So what does it mean to overcome? It means to conquer, to gain the victory, and to win. What are we conquering? John 16:33 (NIV) says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” This scripture suggest that we will have adversity, trials, troubles, situations, but we should not be dismayed because Christ has overcome the world and we will be winners in the end.

“The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.” (Psalm 34:17 – NKJV)

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31 – NKJV)

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?” (Romans 8:35 – NKJV)

“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37 – NKJV)

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:57 – NKJV)

“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4 – NKJV)

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” (1 John 5:4 – NKJV)

With God all things are possible!
