Faith That Moves Mountains

The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd. Hebrews 11:1-2 (The Message)

Faith pleases God. He is happy when we show our faith in Him. Trusting and believing in what God has promised He would do is an act of faith; it is an act of obedience.

Noah’s obedience to build the ark was an act of faith. He more than likely did not understand all that God had told him to do, but he obediently went forth with the plans and specifications that he had been instructed to carry out. How many of us would be able to do what Noah did without asking questions, like “Lord, did you really mean for me to do that?”, or Lord, “I’ve never built anything before, how am I supposed to know what to do?” Noah stepped out on faith and started on the task at hand.

By being obedient to God and leaving the only home he had known was an act of faith for Abraham. Because of this faith, he became the father of many nations.

God does not require that we have giant faith or faith as tall as the Empire State Building. His word says if  we have faith the size of a mustard seed we could move mountains. Mustard seeds are among the smallest of seeds (about 1mm in diameter) but when the seed grows, it grows one of the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree with big branches that birds can perch on (Mark 4:30-32).

All we need is this small amount of faith and anything can become possible. Small possibilities can grow into large opportunities.

30 Days Of…Day 15 – “Dreams”

Do you have dreams and aspirations? Do you ever think about changing who you are  or shall we say expanding your horizons? Maybe you’ve been a lawyer, or a nurse, or a truck driver all your life but that was not the thing that you really loved doing. Maybe this was not the fire that ignited your passion. Do you want to reinvent yourself? That’s what dreams are all about. We are all here for a short time on this earth and if we want to leave a part of ourselves here, now is the time make our dreams become reality.

Start working on your dream by making a list of the things that you love doing. It doesn’t matter what those things are. You may even think, “why should I do this, this is silly.”  Just remember nothing is ever silly, because nothing can be turned into something. Years ago I heard words to a song that said,  “little becomes much when you place in the master’s hand”. Place your dreams in God’s hands. Let Him help you take your dreams from ordinary to extraordinary.

Henry David Thoreau said, “If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”

Eleanor Roosevelt said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
