“Give it Up”

How many times have you thought about giving up certain foods to lose weight or maybe you wanted to give up something to get something else. In our Christian walk we sometimes have junk in our life that is holding us down and keeping us from experiencing the freedom that God desires for us to enjoy in Him.

Have you evaluated your Christian life to see what areas need cleaning up or what needs to be thrown out and given up? What would you give up or let go of?  Do you see anything on the list below that you need to give up?

Covetousness (wanting or desiring what someone else has)

If you any of the above list lurking are around your life, know that there is a remedy. There are certain characteristics that are a part of a Christian’s life. God’s Word describes these qualities as the fruit of the spirit.

Galatians 5:22-24 (Amplified) – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.  And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

The fruit of the spirit is not a long list, however it is a powerful list. It begins with love (why) because God is love and if we can get more of Him in us and through us the rest of the fruit will fall in line. Let’s work on getting our fruit to show forth on the vine.
