Happy or Sad

What makes you happy and what makes you sad? Have you ever experienced true happiness? Here are a  few steps that can lead to happiness.

  • Love the Lord with all your heart.  Mark 12:30-31 (NKJV) says, “And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.” Proverbs 16:20 says, (Amplified) – “He who deals wisely and heeds [God’s] word and counsel shall find good, and whoever leans on, trusts in, and is confident in the Lord—happy, blessed, and fortunate is he.” Ecclesiastes 3:12 (Amplified) – “I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.”
  • Be a giving, caring and unselfish individual. God gave us the greatest gift of all, He gave us His Son, Jesus Christ.
  • Connect with others. Relationships are important. Ecclesiastes 4:12 (Amplified) “And though a man might prevail against him who is alone, two will withstand him. A threefold cord is not quickly broken.” Take action to strengthen your relationships with family and friends.
  • Have an attitude of gratitude. Be thankful for the sunrise and the sunset. Be thankful for fragrance of the flowers. Be thankful for the beauty that God has created for us to enjoy. Colossians 3:15 (Amplified) “And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always].”

Finally, our joy and happiness should come from knowing that we have salvation (we are saved) through Jesus Christ. True happiness can only be found in Godly contentment. Acts 17:28a (Amplified) says, “For in Him we live and move and have our being;…” and for this reason alone our happiness should shine forth like the of sunshine.

Whom have I in heaven but You? And I have no delight or desire on earth besides You.

Psalm 73:25
