30 Days Of…Day 18 – “God’s Love”

In our society today, most people confuse love and lust. The love that God has is unselfish love. His love is action. He gave is only Son for us. God wants us to have agape love. This is a sacrificial love. It is the love that motivates us to put others needs before our own. It is the love that He commands us to have for one another in John 13:34-35 (Amplified). He says ” I give you a new commandment: that you should love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another.  By this shall all [men] know that you are My disciples, if you love one another [if you keep on showing love among yourselves].”

Love should be the characteristic that a believer is known by. Love is not only what we say, but is what we do that shows our love. One of my many favorite scriptures is the 13th chapter of 1 Corinthians where it talks about what love is, what it does, how patient it is, how it bears all things and how it takes no account of the evil done to it. But the last verse is the verse that sticks with me the most. This verse says:

“And so faith, hope, love abide [faith—conviction and belief respecting man’s relation to God and divine things; hope—joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation; love—true affection for God and man, growing out of God’s love for and in us], these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

Love is the greatest of all!

Thank you Russel for your comments on my blog. Yes this is a crazy world, but in spite of that we can always know that we have love if we have God. That’s an awesome thing to know.
